SCC Gene Description

Gene name MYB118
AGI ID AT3G27785
Gene length 437
Uniprot ID Q9LVW4
Protein Name Myb domain protein 118
Synonym PGA37
EC number N/A
Entrez Gene 822399
Refseq mrna NM_113694
Refseq protein NP_189416
Function Two conserved TFs; MYB115 and MYB118 were co-expressed with the key enzyme encoding genes in the newly evolved benzoyloxy GSL (GLS) pathway. These TFs interacted with the promoters of the GLS biosynthetic genes and negatively influenced their expression. Similarly the GLS profiles of these two TFs knockouts showed that they influenced the aliphatic GLS accumulation within seed; leaf and flower while they mainly expressed in seeds (Zhang et al. 2015)
Group GSL transcription factor

GO:0000981

MF

RNA polymerase II transcription factor activity, sequence-specific DNA binding

Interacting selectively and non-covalently with a specific DNA sequence in order to modulate transcription by RNA polymerase II.

GO:0001135

MF

transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II transcription factor recruiting

Interacting selectively and non-covalently with a sequence of DNA that is in cis with and relatively close to a core promoter for RNA polymerase II (RNAP II) in order to activate or increase the frequency, rate or extent of transcription from the RNAP II

GO:0003677

MF

DNA binding

Any molecular function by which a gene product interacts selectively and non-covalently with DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid).

GO:0003700

MF

transcription factor activity, sequence-specific DNA binding

A protein or a member of a complex that interacts selectively and non-covalently with a specific DNA sequence (sometimes referred to as a motif) within the regulatory region of a gene in order to modulate transcription. Regulatory regions include promoter

GO:0005634

CC

nucleus

A membrane-bounded organelle of eukaryotic cells in which chromosomes are housed and replicated. In most cells, the nucleus contains all of the cell's chromosomes except the organellar chromosomes, and is the site of RNA synthesis and processing. In some

GO:0006351

BP

transcription, DNA-templated

The cellular synthesis of RNA on a template of DNA.

GO:0006355

BP

regulation of transcription, DNA-templated

Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of cellular DNA-templated transcription.

GO:0006357

BP

regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter

Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of transcription mediated by RNA polymerase II.

GO:0009960

BP

endosperm development

The process whose specific outcome is the progression of the endosperm over time, from its formation to the mature structure. The endosperm is formed during fertilization and provides nutrients to the developing embryo.

GO:0010228

BP

vegetative to reproductive phase transition of meristem

The process involved in transforming a meristem that produces vegetative structures, such as leaves, into a meristem that produces reproductive structures, such as a flower or an inflorescence.

GO:0010262
